Forum Content:

All forum posts should involve serious (though not necessarily humorless) and well-intentioned discussions of the cultivational and design aspects of bonsai.

Whilst a mastery of the artistic aspects of bonsai is indispensable for the successful practice of bonsai, we do not intend this forum as a venue for discussing the deeper issues of art in bonsai. We encourage members and guests who wish to discuss and participate in such artistic discussions to visit our sister site "The Art of Bonsai project" at http://www.artofbonsai.org Please limit your article submissions to those concerning the horticultural, cultivational and design aspects of bonsai and related subjects.

Prose Quality:

Articles should be well-written, utilizing proper spelling and grammar. Either International English or American English spelling conventions may be used when posting or submitting content such as articles, galleries, and reviews. However, we do ask that you stick to one form or the other and do not mix spelling conventions.

Photography:

High quality photographs of suitable bonsai-related subjects are welcomed at the Knowledge of Bonsai Project.

To submit your article of tutorial photographs please email copies of the photographs to us at mailto:will@artofbonsai.org. Please include any titles for any photographs you may wish to include in the article. We would also ask that you submit information species (common and Latin name) height (Both Metric and Imperial, if known), maker of pot, your user name and country. You may also include any other information that you feel is pertinent.

KoB accepts photographs relating to Bonsai, Penjing, Accents, Kusamono, Pottery, Stands, Shows, Exhibitions, and other related subjects. Please see our current article base as an example. Accompanying text should be well written, utilizing proper spelling and grammar.

If your article contains photographs we recommend submitting full sized photographs. Please refrain from deliberately sizing them. Ideally, they should be submitted at 300 dpi resolution. Using these standards will ensure that your photograph is acceptable and customizable for our use.

All photographs submitted should exhibit technical competence: they should be in focus, properly exposed, and they should use the best backdrop possible under the circumstances. Photographs, if they need to be edited, should be edited properly in a photo-editing program. In particular, images should be cropped and corrected if necessary for exposure and rotation.

Tone:

Passionate disagreement is encouraged, but mutual respect is essential to our mission and verbal hostility will not be tolerated. Excessive profanity will likely result in editing and/or banishment from the forum.

Text not in accordance with these guidelines will be edited or deleted by the moderators.

Copyright:

Do not post text or images to which you do not have the copyright.

For original text and images, the copyright for content posted to the Knowledge of Bonsai remains with the author, though we do request non-exclusive permission to use your contributions in future articles, collections, retrospectives, etc.
