A couple of weeks ago we had the great pleasure to have Steve Pilacik to visit us in Fort Myers. He brought field grown Japanese Black Pines with him and that always means a treat for us Floridians.

We all learned a great deal from Steve. He is an excellent teacher and his knowledge from a growers' perspective was very eyeopening.

Some highlights..

Great Pics Dorothy!

All of those will make fine shohin bonsai in time.

Was there anything that Steve said that stuck in your mind?

Paul,

one thing that Steve stressed repeatedly for japanese black pines is the importance of the right soil! 1/4 "and bigger rocks with 20% sifted pine bark. That means coarse!
The other interesting thought is the method to correct reverse taper on
younger trees (wire). To me that was new.
I recommend Steve if you want to know more about japanese blackpine cultivation and care, and his new DVD is worth watching!

I enjoyed the work shop a lot and now I am waiting to see what I can make out of this Shohin Blackpine.

I think you meant to say Stuck Right Paul?

Dorothy, is that you?

Amazing, you look nothing like what I imagined.

The workshop looks like it was a fun and educational experience!
