Mid America Bonsai Alliance 2006 Symposium

Jerry Meislik Demonstration with a Willow Leaf Fig (Ficus salicifolia)

Jerry Meislik is a well known bonsai lecturer, writer, and teacher who resides in Whitefish, Montana. He's been a director of the American Bonsai Society, Chair of the American Bonsai Society Editorial Board, and board member of the National Bonsai Foundation. Jerry has been actively studying trees and how to grow them in containers and creating bonsai since 1977. Jerry has traveled to several foreign countries to study bonsai and design concepts. Jerry is considered an expert on tropical/indoor bonsai, and the use of native materials for bonsai.

Jerry is one of the foremost experts on Figs (Ficus sp.) and other tropical species. He is the author of "Ficus: The Exotic Bonsai", the definitive reference work on Ficus for bonsai. Growing tropical Bonsai is a challenging endeavor in the Midwest. We are very fortunate to have Jerry share his enthusiasm for the hobby and his knowledge of growing high-light tropical bonsai in cooler climates.
